Fail dresses: return to sender

>> CHECK OUT THE MOST RECENT VIDEO <<

This might sound generalising and oversimplifying, but I don't think I'm wrong when I say that most of the social media is used to show ourselves at our best. Best make-up, interesting locations, perfect fitting outfits, tasty-looking food, awesome friends.. and that's cool, because most of us like looking at positive stuff. :)

It will be different today though, as this post will be about dresses that I ordered online.. and that were definitely not a success when I put them on. By the way, this is what I usually do.. I come home, see the package(s), take a shower, set up the camera and start trying them on.  Am I weird?

It was a long work-day, so I couldn't be bothered to do make-up! So it's back-sides or cropped-off heads.. trust me.. it's for the better! :P

So the dress depicted above was just a little too tight and the colours weren't really working for me. And also the fabric.. I didn't like it.. it gave me goose-bumps.

This second dress.. I don't even think I have to tell you why I returned this one. This dress is a clear example of how a piece of clothing can look great from the front-side.. but absolutely rubbish from the back-side.

This third dress is a classic example of how something looked good in theory on the website, but when finally on my body.. it just looked all frumpy! Ah well.. you win some, you lose some.. right?

And this is why I always take photos when I'm trying on stuff.. from all angles! It's better than relying on just the mirror! ;-)

I have no videos of this dress fitting session, so I'll just leave you with two most recent ones!

A green dress at sunset

>> CHECK OUT THE MOST RECENT VIDEO <<

The last outfit was a bit on the black-ish side.. and while I really love black outfits (always so simple and effortlessly stylish), I find colours to be so much more gratifying!

So, to keep the variety going, the dress has turned green/yellow.. and the setting has changed back from France to the Netherlands. Who needs to travel 1200 kilometres  (750 miles, for you Yanks and Brits :-P) for some sun, right?

As some of you might know.. I'm not very good at naming colours. So for me.. this dress is bright green, perhaps with some yellow in there. Of course, others might call it chemical toxic sludge green. I don't know.. what do you think?

These photos were taken in a park near Rotterdam, the kind where moms take their kids to run around, let them feed the ducks and have them play games. So this park contains all kinds of stuff to keep kids occupied!

Anyone fancy a game of table tennis? xD

I think the above shot is clear example of how nice the natural light during sunset can be. It almost has something really surreal going on!

So,.. I mentioned ducks, therefore I should probably show some ducks. I actually used to feed ducks with my siblings and my parents during the weekend back when I was a child, so this brought back some memories. :)

I usually don't really do outfit details, because most of the stuff I wear is out of the stores anyway by the time I get around to wearing it. Or that just a way of saying that I just buy stuff during the sales.. and I'm cheap? :P

The shoes are high-heeled black and white sandals from Dorothy Perkins... I have them now for a couple of years. They are so comfortable.. perfect for a whole day! The dress is from Steps, a brand that always seems to have the perfect dresses for my body!

The leather jacket is by Promiss.. and all the other stuff is really old! :-P

Time to enjoy the sunset! :-D

Enjoy the video and the weekend! ♥

Along the French South coast in a black high low dress

>> CHECK OUT THE MOST RECENT VIDEO <<

I try to bring out at least one blog post a week, but not because I feel like I have to. It's because I know my own weaknesses.

I've said it before: I really love blogging and posting photos with little pieces of text. The thing is.. I know I'm relatively lazy and if I don't keep some sort of rhythm going, I will let it slide. :)

This week was super busy with work.. and next week will be more of the same. I actually also went out to Amsterdam to meet up with a friend from the UK! I'll be posting some of my outfits of that visit in the next couple of weeks.

On top of all the busy work stuff.. the summer has been slowly changing into fall over here in the Netherlands, so here are some photos of a day at the beach in Narbonne Plage and dinner in Sète in France during my holiday.

The French people were all soaking up the sun, but I'd like to have good skin when I'm older.. so I opted for a black high-low dress, a black hat and my trusty sun-glasses. And lots of sunscreen! :-P

I also bought these cute wedges at the beach, because I foolishly opted to bring my 4.5 inch stiletto heels along for the day... and stiletto heels in the sand is definitely not a good combination! Will I ever learn my lesson?! :-P

On the way to the beach, there was a hill with a look-out point towards Narbonne Plage and the Mediterranean sea. You can even see the road with the cars going to the beach. And sadly, you can also see that some tourist decided to throw a bottle in the environment instead of a trash can. :-(

When we got to Sète, we just walked around.. trying to get a few snapshots.. without tourists passing me by and photo-bombing the shot.

As evidenced in the next shot, you can see that the local French people don't care if someone is posing in the middle of the square! :-P

Do you have that as well? When you're in a crowded area and your friend starts to take photos and videos of you.. and suddenly people stop and watch to figure out what is happening?

Who is this person? Someone famous?!

So.. there you have it! Another gorgeous day in France. The only drawback is that the sun during the day can be very harsh! I love the temperatures, but for photos.. I'd rather have a partially cloudy day in October or March. Ah well.. can't have it all, right?

I managed to get video material of pretty much every outfit, so in the coming weeks you will get a good impression of all the outfits I wore... and how big my suitcase must have been! :-P

Is there such a thing as too much pink?

>> CHECK OUT THE MOST RECENT VIDEO <<

And to answer that question unequivocally: it depends! :-P

Okay okay, the girly over-the-top part of me would say: NO, there is never too much pink!

I myself don't have much stuff in pink, but I'm always so envious of girls who can pull off the cute candy pink look without it looking so sweet that your teeth will spontaneously start to rot.

The realistic take-a-good-look-in-the-mirror who-do-you-think-you-are part of me would say: YES, there is such a thing as too much and you (meaning me) of all people should take care not to overdo it!

Anyway, internal debates aside, I thought I'd solve the issue by wearing a cute summer cocktail dress that's white with a cool pink pattern. What do you think? Faux-pas avoided? :-P

Of course, I gotta have high heels.. and the only pink heels I had in my collection were these peep-toe stilettos by Bershka. I got them in a sale for 10 euros a couple of months ago, just waiting for a summer evening and a dress like this. :)

So, for this dress, I actually planned to do the photo/video shoot the same early morning as when I did the photo shoot for this blue dress. However, after that shoot.. I suddenly didn't feel too well, so I went home and stayed in bed all Sunday.

That's why this set of photos and video clips are from the evening that I actually wore it.. and I asked one of my friends to take both my photo and video camera (which I, of course, brought along) and help me out which he graciously did. Did I mention I feel very lucky with my friends? :-D

How do you guys/girls actually do your photo shoots? Do you use a tripod? Or do you drag your partner or other friends with you?

Okay, that last pose is perhaps overdoing it! :-P

Thanks to my friend (you know who you are), there is also a video! Have a great weekend!
